What: 3rd Annual Boardgaming for Diabetes.
This year Waleah and I are not participating as a part of Team Diabetes but we still want to be involved with the Canadian Diabetes Association so we are continuing to fundraise and have a great time with our boardgaming. All proceeds will go the CDA in memory of my brother Derek Blais who passed away from his diabetes february 27, 2008 at the young age of 26.

Tickets are available at the following game stores.
Drexoll games (both locations - Vancouver & Poco)
Craving for a Game (Surrey central Mall)
Strategies Games and Hobbies (Main st, Vancouver)
The Connection Games (Granville st and Victoria Dr locations).

If tickets are purchased at on of the above locations by April 23rd tickets are
$25 for the weekend, $40 for couples.
At the door the weekend is $30 for a single and $50 for couples, Saturday only is $20 & Sunday only is $15

There will be a 50/50 draw both days, a silent auction and door prizes.

Why:
Last year the Boardgaming for Diabetes weekend raised over $1,500
towards the Canadian Diabetes Association and there was much
boardgaming fun to be had. How could we not do this again? This year
Michael and Waleah Blais will be headed to Dublin Ireland to
participate in the Dublin Marathon. To do this we need to raise
another $12,000 for Team Diabetes. Team Diabetes Iceland collectively
raised over 1 million dollars for the Canadian Diabetes Association
and we raised just over $19,000, please help us support this wonderful
cause while having a weekend of fun!

WOW!!!!!

The weekend was a huge success!! We raised over $1,500 this weekend.

Thank you to all who came and played and kept the weekend fun.

Congratulations to Toby Donaldson who won the 3d Settlers of Catan set donated by Drexoll Games.

PS: It was such a great weekend Waleah and I are planning to do it again. Not geared as a fundraiser but to get the gaming community at large together for lots of gaming goodness.

Hello all!
One week to go until a full weekend of Gaming Heaven. Let's pray for rain right ;)

If you are interested in playing in a tournament can you please let me know so I have an idea of how many players there will be and how to "seed" everyone. We'll also need extra copies of the games. I'll be bringing my copies but we'll need a couple more of each. Can you let me know if you can bring a copy (that way I can say stop after everyone offers to bring one ;) )

There will be a 50/50 draw on Saturday & Sunday. Tickets will be 1/$2 5/$5 and an armlength for $10.

There will be a silent auction with some "vintage" games that have been donated by Drexoll and various other's. If you have a game that is collecting dust and may be interesting to someone and you would like to donate it to the silent auction please let me know.

We'll have cans of pop and bags of chips for sale to snack on. There is a McDonald's, Subway, Denny's, Whitespot and a nice pub all within walking distance also.

For you naughty people who have NOT bought tickets yet, they will be available at the door.

A few details on the Tournaments:
Rule 1: HAVE FUN! Even though there are prizes it's still a fun weekend of gaming.
Settlers of Catan will be 4 players and no expansions.
Ticket to Ride tournament will be the Marklin edition.
For all 3 tournaments depending on how many sign up you will most likely be guaranteed 2 games and then the top 4 (5 for TtR) will play in a final game.

Settlers of Catan 3D Set:

There have been some questions about the Settlers of Catan 3d set and how it will be given out. It will be a door prize, if you buy a ticket you have a chance. If you buy a couples ticket each person will be eligible for the draw. I have done this because I do not want the tournaments to become too serious and people not have fun. Yes the tournaments will have prizes but the idea is to keep the weekend fun for all.
